20 In Their Twenties: Rising Star - Brittany M. Wilson, CPA
We are proud to announce that Brittany Wilson, Supervisor with McGee, Hearne & Paiz, LLP (MHP), has been selected as one of twenty "Rising Stars" in our community by the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber recognized these outstanding young professionals at their luncheon on April 1, 2016 to celebrate a group not only dedicated to their professions but loyal to their community. The keynote speaker was Justin Patton, an international speaker and communication skills coach, who challenged this group and all attending to think differently about how one leads and works in the diverse workforce we all experience each day.
As a third generation Wyoming native, and coming from a family of teachers, Brittany brings Wyoming values and a mentoring approach to everything she does. She serves as both a role model and confidante for new staff; she has instituted bi-weekly meetings with Senior Associate staff to mentor them as they grow in their careers; she has also instituted meetings with audit engagement teams to debrief and provide feedback following an audit engagement. These initiatives have exponentially increased staff satisfaction, communication, and retention. Brittany's drive for success is inclusive; she is as committed to the success of the individuals on her teams, and the teams as a unit, as she is to her own career. Brittany leads by example, and there could be no finer example.
Brittany's professional impact has been profound. Not only has she built an extraordinary career in five short years, she has impacted our Firm and our clients in equally extraordinary measure. She has mastered the delicate balance between quality and efficiency. Brittany exceeds the expectations of those supervising her engagements, while delivering exceptional service and a quality work product to her clients. Mastery of this balance so early in her career is remarkable.
Brittany earned her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Accounting from the University of Wyoming in 2010 and 2011, respectively. During her academic career, Brittany completed two internships with MHP in 2009 and 2010, and was hired by MHP in 2011 immediately upon completion of her Master's degree. Brittany earned CPA licensure in 2012 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Wyoming Society of Certified Public Accountants (WYOCPA). She has been active in the WYOCPA Education Committee, and has presented to high school Accounting I and II students for three years, mentoring them about the CPA profession. She has been a rising star in our Firm from the day she first came to us as an intern. Brittany has built a stellar reputation with clients throughout the State, all of whom rely on her for her expertise.
Brittany credits her involvement in FFA as a profound influence in shaping who she has become as a person and as a leader. She was heavily involved in FFA in high school and served as State President during her 2006-2007 academic year. This high school experience with the incredible FFA organization in Wyoming has translated into a passionate commitment both she and her husband have to Wyoming FFA as they continue to volunteer for Wyoming FFA and score the Career Development Events at the Wyoming State FFA Convention every year. Brittany has volunteered as the Agriculture Sales and Service Contest Superintendent since 2013. She just ended her term on the Wyoming FFA Foundation Board where she had served as Treasurer.
Love for Cheyenne and Wyoming is being passed on by the Wilsons to their son, Camden, born last June. Brittany is committed to making this community, this State, and her profession better for the generations to come, and that commitment is evident in every aspect of her life. She is a star who will shine brightly in our community for decades to come.
